You know what I really don’t like when I run games?
Piles of documentation.
I want to tell stories. Awesome stories, full of player interactions and epic decisions and stupendous events that defy description outside of “HOLY CATS THAT WAS AWESOME!”
And you know what? Our current documentation is not really conducive to meeting this goal. I love being able to direct new players and DMs to the Player’s Pack and DM’s Pack, but I really don’t love the number of documents contained in that package. There’s just… so much. People get lost in the mess and let’s be honest: Wisdom (Survival) checks only exist in the game, not in the real world as we read about the game.
SO! What’re we doing to fix it?
Well, I’m taking point on a project that rolls all of our seasonal documentation, adventure-specific rules updates, all that jazz and puts them into the Content Catalog. I don’t know about you all but I’m gonna be WAY happier pointing people at the Player’s Pack (for example) when it contains the current AL rules doc, the Content Catalog, and character sheets/ log sheets as a single file. On the downside the Content Catalog is going to have an increased page count but it will collect the needed details in a much, MUCH more accessible format for everyone. This means that nobody’s gonna need to dig up those old files any more, we have fewer pointers floating about, and we have the ability to publish these updates in a far more streamlined manner.
We’ve attached a sample of what this is going to look like going forward. Check it out! Please note that this is merely an example and is neither exhaustive nor final.
